THE COUNTRY HOTEL - Originally built in 1909, The County Hotel is the only example of the Victorian-Edwardian classical revival style that survived the devastating 1931 Napier earthquake. Redevelopment since 1993 has transformed the former County Council building into a boutique hotel and popular restaurant. Each of the 18 queen bedrooms has been named after a different New Zealand native bird and includes writing bureau, dedicated modem line and Sky television. The library on the first level houses more than 1,000 books and has complimentary port for guests. Children can be accommodated on portable beds.
